Exciting News: MaeMae Jewelry Featured on NBC Los Angeles
At MaeMae Jewelry, we’ve always believed in creating more than just jewelry—we aim to foster connection, empowerment, and intention through every piece. That’s why we’re thrilled to share a special moment: MaeMae Jewelry was recently featured on NBC4, highlighting our story, our roots, and the heartbeat of what we do.

Our Story: Where Empowerment Meets Culture
NBC4’s Camila Rambaldi took viewers inside MaeMae Jewelry’s home in Atwater Village, a place where the soft hum of sound bowls mingles with the cheerful clicks of stones at our Stone Bar. The segment beautifully captured the spirit of MaeMae: a safe space that reflects the warmth and nurturing essence of Filipino culture.
Co-founders Amanda Mae and Reena Mae Hooker—who call each other “soul sisters”—shared their journey of building MaeMae into a jewelry brand centered on love and intention. With every handmade piece, from necklaces symbolizing trust and rebirth to bracelets representing vulnerability and patience, we aim to help people feel more in tune with themselves.
A Journey Rooted in Resilience
Our story began in 2011 as a small pop-up shop and evolved into a brick-and-mortar store in 2016. Reena shared how MaeMae was born during a challenging financial period, crafting her first necklace called “Trust” as a source of personal healing. From that moment, her passion to create meaningful pieces took off.
Her words resonated deeply:
"I had all of these feelings of loneliness and sadness, and I made myself a necklace. From then on, it was game over—it became my mission to share this connection with others."
A Spotlight on Impact and Inspiration
This year has been a whirlwind of recognition for MaeMae. In March, we were honored to be featured on The Today Show, an experience that left us feeling seen and validated. As Reena shared with NBC4, "Sometimes I don’t feel like MaeMae is seen, and this was such a big confirmation that people get it. It showed us how much of a difference we’re making." Our mission remains rooted in inspiring others, especially young girls, to embrace their authenticity and see the power in who they are.
